Explore the Tower of London: A Journey Through History
Step inside the Tower of London and uncover its fascinating—and often chilling—past. Once a royal residence, this iconic fortress later became a notorious prison, an execution site, and even a royal zoo. Today, it proudly houses the Crown Jewels, making it one of London’s must-visit landmarks.
Discover the Tower’s Rich History
Wander through the Tower’s historic chambers, including the former living quarters of monarchs and the Royal Menagerie, where exotic animals were once kept. Visit the site where notable figures like Thomas More and Anne Boleyn were executed, and explore the cell where Scottish hero William Wallace was imprisoned before his execution in 1305.
The Crown Jewels
One of the Tower’s highlights is its world-famous collection of Crown Jewels. Marvel at St Edward’s Crown, used in the coronation of British monarchs, and the Imperial State Crown, worn during the annual State Opening of Parliament. Don’t miss the breathtaking Cullinan Diamond—the largest rough diamond ever found—and the legendary Koh-i-Noor, one of the oldest diamonds in the world.
The Ravens of the Tower
As you explore, keep an eye out for the Tower’s six resident ravens. According to an ancient legend, the Tower—and the monarchy—will fall if the ravens ever leave. Today, these birds are carefully cared for and remain a beloved symbol of the Tower’s enduring legacy.
